New Addition to The Radio Shack

Posted by: peter In: equipment

On Saturday Dad (M3JFM) went to visit ML&S to collect a Yaesu FT-950, trading in are old HF station, we also came away with a SignaLink USB interface, Heil headset adapter and also the matching speaker for the FT-950.

All this was carted back on the train to Oxford, without too much difficulty we left at 8:05am and was home by just after 1pm. After a rest, we tidied up the shack and did a few adjustments to the desk so the new rig would fit!

Radio

Setting the radio up was a breeze, just had to adjust a few settings in the menu system for the VOX to work correctly and we were back on the air just before 6pm. Putting the rig to the test in the UBA SSB & BARTG RTTY contests on 40m results from these can be found in there individual posts!

Any chance to compare it side by side with a FT-1000MP or FT-2000? From what I have read, the FT-2000 does not perform that well.

Hi Christian, No chance of doing that at the moment, but if i do get the chance I’ll certainly compare them.
