BARTG Sprint RTTY (Saturday Only)

Posted by: peter In: contesting

This weekend was BARTG Sprint RTTY, every year I try to take part in this contest and this year was no exception although there was a slight delay due to the fact that we picked up the new Yaesu FT-950 radio during Saturday.

By the time we had the radio setup and I configured the new SignaLink USB interface it was gone 6pm and 20m had pretty much closed so I decided I was going to have to do signal band 40m as the rig refused to tune the antenna on 80m!

Conditions did seem pretty hard going plus I was getting used to the new rig, filters and settings so this wasn’t going to go smoothly, at 8pm I started off OM3, CN8, Z32, HG4, 9A5 straight into the log with no hassle! I thought great and doing S&P I was getting used to the settings and the buttons on the radio.

Later on I managed to pickup VE2RRY, then K4GMH, later picking up NE3H and K1TTT so I was feeling pretty pleased the FT-950 and the Windom seemed to be working! At 23:50 I decided to stop as I’d been up since 6am on Saturday finishing up with 50 QSOs and a claimed score of 4800.
